About
The local services delivery hub, The Courthouse, Kesh will be open 5 years on 11th October 2024. To celebrate this milestone, there will be a week-long programme of drop-in events when the centre will open 10.00am - 4.00pm daily from Monday 30th September until Saturday 5th October.
The cafe serves tasty, affordable food and the menu prices will be appropriate to the celebratory occasion.
The trustees, staff and volunteers are enthusiastic about the opportunity to acknowledge the support of so many agencies, organisations, groups and individuals and, in this regard, are pleased to focus on one project that was undertaken by The Courthouse and in conjunction with Ardess Parish Church and Ardess Community Association.
That project, in two parts, was the digitisation of parish death records from 1700 - 1990 and the documentary film on Ardess Famine Graves and Kiltierney Deer Park. Those visiting The Courthouse during the celebration week (excluding Wednesday 2nd October) will be guided in accessing the death records and can view the films and speak with one of our tour guides. Where possible, we would ask visitors to come for the film screening at 10.30am or 2.30pm but all will be accommodated where possible.
We acknowledge the support of The Department for Communities for part-funding the purchase of equipment; and Fermanagh District Council and Clogher Care for their work between 1980 and 1990 in originally preparing bound hard copies of the records.
This project could not have been undertaken without the sterling work of The Lough Erne Landscape Partnership with funding support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund in their assistance with contract preparation and awards to Clarecomm in digitising the death records and Think 6 in the making of the films. Ardess Parish is also acknowledged in making the records available and permitting access to the famine graves but visitors must note that access to the privately owned Kiltierney Deer Park is prohibited.
All are welcome in The Courthouse Cafe, 45 Main Street, Kesh to celebrate as part of the Lough Erne Heritage Festival.
