About

The annual Irish Caving Symposium (SUICRO) is the annual symposium for cavers in Ireland and Northern Ireland organised jointly by the Speleological Union of Ireland (SUI) and the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation (ICRO).

About SUICRO

The first SUICRO symposium was held in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare in 1985 and has occurred every year since, attracting up to 400 cavers and friends during recent years.

The weekend generally starts on Friday evening and people arrive into the welcoming atmosphere to meet old friends and enjoy some hospitality. Many cavers take the opportunity to renew their membership fees, buy a souvenir T-shirt and a fistful of raffle tickets for the raffle which usually has prizes amounting to a few thousand euro.

The AGMs (Annual General Meetings) of the two organisations are on the Saturday and Sunday mornings. In the afternoons are workshops and caving trips, and in the evenings are talks, slide shows and the grand table quiz.
