About
Music in Fermanagh proudly presents an evening of piano mastery featuring renowned pianist Ruth McGinley. Following on from their wonderful 'Songs and Divas' concert last summer with mezzo soprano Carolyn Dobbin, Music in Fermanagh are thrilled to welcome Ruth back to the Ardhowen Theatre as part of their 2023/2024 programme. The concert will be an intimate programme of solo piano works by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Erik Satie, Chick Corea and Neil Martin and guarantees to immerse the audience in McGinley's unique and soothing playing style.
Hailing from Derry, Ruth McGinley garnered acclaim as one of Ireland's leading pianists from a young age, winning numerous awards, including the piano final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year. Her career has been marked by diversity and collaboration, straying from traditional classical paths. After a considerable hiatus, Ruth returned to the stage with her debut solo album 'Reconnection' in 2016, receiving high praise. Her latest album, 'Aura,' a collaboration with composer Neil Martin, offers a "classical reimagining of Irish airs". With performances at prestigious venues like the Southbank Centre, London and the Kennedy Centre, Washington D.C., Ruth continues to push artistic boundaries. Driven by a steadfast commitment to charting her own artistic course, it is the spaces between where Ruth's interests really lie. A highly sought-after collaborator, Ruth works with musicians from many backgrounds including jazz, folk, electronic and film music. Join Music in Fermanagh, and Ruth, to explore the spaces between and a captivating programme of piano works on March 26th.
The evening is being presented by Music in Fermanagh, a registered charity, with the generous support of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Fermanagh/Omagh District Council.
