Enniskillen Wilde Island Town: Home of The Happy Prince, October 16-20 2025
A Wilde weekend of fairytale, fantasy and frivolity for serious people is promised at the In Our Dreams festival (16–20 October 2025) based in the island town of Enniskillen, in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakelands.
Three early highlights:
The Happy Prince Pageant
A community farewell pageant to the departing swallows from the northern hemisphere to South Africa. To run from Enniskillen Royal Grammar (former Portora Royal School) on the west hill of Enniskillen through the island town to Forthill Park and Cole’s Monument on the east hill of town.
Wildelife On Erne
The launch of 10 new river sculptures of the other flora and fauna in the Happy Prince story, alongside the Swallow, on River Erne as a new sculptural walk around Enniskillen Island Town.
FesEval Opening Lecture from “a disEnguished stranger” (THP)
Theme: “How wonderful is the power of love” (THP). Wednesday October 16, St. Macar5n’s Cathedral (Oscar Wilde’s birthday)
A wider programme of theatre (Wilde’s plays), music (Richard Strauss Four Last Songs), promenade theatre ‘Oscar Wilde at Home’ in one of Fermanagh’s Big Houses, The Ballad of Reading Gaol theatrical presenta5on and fairytale storytelling in the evenings in High Street shops.
