“Handed down Histories”
Memories Relating to the Decade of Centenaries 1912-1922
Heritage can be found in history books but is also preserved in stories and memories handed down from generation to generation.
Family and community histories contribute to our sense of self, sense of place and our identity. They can be treasured and shared, or they can be difficult, controversial and hidden.
Our perceptions of the past are all different, often coloured by the present or from the re-telling.
This exhibition explores past events from the Decade of Centenaries 1912-1922 through personal histories and reminiscences, collected through photographs, recordings, objects and memorabilia.
A period only just within living memory, we can indirectly experience and understand the early decades of the twentieth century through this exhibition of recollections.
Exhibition Continues until 25 March 2023.
Normal admission rates apply.
