About
Travel writing has wide parameters and enormous elasticity. It is a hybrid of many subjects including the journey, storytelling, descriptions of place and landscape. It can also incorporate memoir, along with a mix of topics such as history and heritage, wildlife and archaeology. In this three-hour workshop Paul Clements will consider some of the ways of shaping your travels. Through examples, we will look at how to build style, explore your senses and develop your voice to create an engaging piece of writing. Advice will be given on overcoming fears and helping spark creativity. We will discuss new trends in travel writing as well as looking at tricks and techniques used by authors in what is one of the most popular forms of writing today. A reading list, examples of quality travel writing from books, and other handouts will be provided to all participants
