About
These are small group, fun courses, run from Mon-Fri, AM sessions for 7-11yrs and PM sessions for 11-14yrs. There will be plenty of different adventurous paddle-sport activities throughout the week. With quality coaching and learning through fun "games with aims", lead by our friendly, experienced and qualified coaches who have a genuine passion for canoeing, outdoor education and child development. Easter and Summer camps and outdoor activities are where kids have some of the best formative experiences of their young lives, learning while having fun and making new best friends.
No previous paddling experience is required. These courses are great for water confidence and no swimming ability is required. Our coaches will always be in direct supervision of the activities and buoyancy aids will be properly fitted and checked for all participants.
Participants will have the option to complete the National Governing Body Certificated Personal Performance Awards.
Erne paddlers has a fantastic club ethos of everyone helping out and supporting each other. We encourage a growth mindset, personal development and building resilience through overcoming well managed challenges with positive feedback. A wide range of fun and challenging canoeing activities will be on offer including; open canoe trips, sit-on-top kayaks, stand up paddle boards, journeys, games, skills and more.
Participant numbers are strictly limited for quality and safety.
7yrs is the minimum age for attendance on our activities. The other age ranges shown are guidelines. If you want to book kids that are slightly older/younger together that is usually okay, and we will try to accommodate siblings and friends together if possible.
All our courses are open to all. You do not need to be a member to book.
We aim to be as inclusive as possible. If you have any additional needs or may require support to paddle, please contact us to see how we can help you.
Equipment
We will provide all the paddlesport and safety equipment you need; kayaks/canoes, etc, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets.
The only thing we can't supply is your personal paddling wear.
For this course, normal outdoor clothes suitable for the prevailing weather (tracksuit, fleeces or walking clothes and waterproofs, including shoes to get wet) are perfectly fine. If you have a wetsuit, that's great, please feel free to wear it, but it is not necessary for this event.
A full set of dry clothes including shoes and a towel are essential to bring for your comfort and safety.
Please apply sun screen as necessary.
Facilities
Lakeland Forum facilities will be available and people can change in there for a small fee.
Please arrive ready to go paddling or change at your car as many paddlers do. A changing towel and a mat to stand on make this a much easier and more discrete process, or a large bin liner to sit on on the way home in your paddling kit works well too.
