About

This will be an evening of energising music, emotive pros, and engaging discussion which will unite the audience in a powerful collective experience focused on the losses caused by our shared environmental crisis. All are welcome to this once-off public event featuring traditional caoins.

There will be a presentation by UCC's Marian Caulfield, a leading expert in caoineadh also know as keening. A round table discussion with Marian, environmental artist AlanJames Burns and local biodiversity expert Heather Bothwell will delve into the intersections of eco-grief, caoineadh and art making. Throughout the evening there will be live performances of caoins and lament airs by Kerry McCabe and Róis Connolly, traditional musicians from Co. Fermanagh.

By processing grief and redefining environmental loss as a cohesive bond, Caoineadh Dúlra looks at preserving both the precious natural resources and cultural heritage across the island of Ireland.

Free event but booking is advised.
