This 'Walking Through Time' guided walk will take you through Killykeegan Nature Reserve with Cuilcagh Mountain providing a stunning backdrop. As you walk through the rich limestone grassland you will uncover an abundance of archaeological features that show the true history of the area.
Adam, your guide, has been involved in Archaeology for over six years. This has included working for a time as a field archaeologist in Northern Ireland. Adam's breadth of knowledge, interest and natural enthusiasm will bring this ancient world to live via the skills you will learn and their unique story telling skills.
The walk begins at Killykeeghan Nature Reserve. Please meet and register your arrival with your Event Guide Adam 15 minutes prior to the walk start time.
As you walk through the rich limestone grassland you will uncover an abundance of archaeological features that show the true history of the area. You will see evidence of the earliest inhabitants in this area who arrived around 5500 years ago during the Late Stone Age (Neolithic Period). You will see how this changed over time when viewing the remains left by our early modern ancestors over the past 300 or so years.

Survival skills of ancient people
Foraging for materials for making rope and cordage
Stone tools and flint knapping demonstration
This is an outdoor event, please wear comfortable (flat) outdoor footwear and bring waterproof clothing.
