About

Lisnaskea History Talks resume for the New Year with an engaging presentation by renowned local historian Seamas Mac Annaidh. The first talk, titled "Voices from the Veldt", takes place on Tuesday, 21st January at the Castle Park Centre.

Seamas will delve into the personal letters of Fermanagh soldiers who served during the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). These letters, published in local newspapers 125 years ago, provide a deeply personal perspective on the war—often at odds with official histories. The talk offers a unique opportunity to explore this fascinating period through the voices of those who lived it.

This event provides a sneak preview of Seamas Mac Annaidh's upcoming book, which compiles these letters and is set for publication later in 2025. Attendees are welcome to contribute stories of their own ancestors who served in the war.

Event Details:
